Confirmation of the Drought
This biblical age of famine and drought corresponds exactly to Thompson and his colleagues' results. The ice cores revealed a 300-year drought that began around 4,000 years ago. The scientists discovered a tiny layer of dust on the ice cores as a result of the drought. In addition to the Genesis story, additional historical sources suggest that Egypt faced a terrible drought that threatened the pharaohs' authority. People used to be able to exist in sections of the Sahara Desert that are now barren.

Science and religion rarely agree on anything, yet in this case, the two go hand in hand. Even while most people do not take the Bible's narrative literally, some events may contain historical facts.
