“Cold War”
The Cold War had just started. In the case of a major conflict, both sides were keen to outgun one another militarily. Without such a confrontation ever taking place, the war came to an end in 1991, receiving the moniker “Cold War.” The planet was under invasion watch for more than 40 years. The Western Bloc, which is largely democratic and is led by the US, is on one side. On the other hand, there was the communist, USSR-led Eastern Bloc. The developing third-world nations made valiant attempts to maintain their neutrality.
