The Citizen Kane reference
We were surprised to learn that the Pirates of the Caribbean, despite the difference in genre of Citizen Kane, paid tribute to the 1942 classic, directed by Orson Welles. It is not uncommon for films to reference iconic works in the past. That particular scene referenced the scene in Citizen Kane, where a character dies and lets go of the small globe. We are referring to the scene where Barbossa falls to the floor, and an apple rolls out of his grip.
