It must not have been impossible NOT to look at Geoffrey Rush when he appeared on screen in the Pirates of the Caribbean movies. It is simply not because he is a fantastic actor, but it also happens that he is a very clever man too. According to reports, Geoffrey realized viewers look at the screen from left to right, just like how we do it with books. So, he tried to position himself in a way that he's the farthest left on the screen, so the audience looks at him first.
