A group of nine men on a quest
It was the year 1942, a few short months after Pearl Harbor's bombing, that formally drew the United States into World War 2. The B-17 41-2446, captained by Fred Eaton, was part of the country's first long-range mission against the Japanese. Eaton's crew of eight men bravely accepted their assignment. The B-17 should take off from the Allied base in Australia, fly over New Britain to complete its mission, and then refuel in Port Moresby, both of which are in Papua New Guinea. Unfortunately, as is the norm in such dire circumstances, nothing went according to plan.
