Her Actual Name
It will be suprising for you to know that the Duchess of Sussex was given a name that was significantly different from the one she has now. Meghan was given the name Rachel at birth. but she preferred the latter's pronunciation, so her formal first name was omitted entirely. Meghan could never have dreamed that three decades later, and after a life full of stories, she would marry into a family that not only keeps their full names but usually has more than three.
A House Full of Inspiration
Her father, Thomas Markle, is of European ancestry, while her mother is of African American ancestry. On her mother's side, the Duchess's great-great-great-grandfather chose Wisdom as his surname. Meghan has always been quite proud of her heritage, which is most likely owing to how she was raised. In an interview, Meghan explained how her father surprised her for Christmas one year when she really wanted this particular Barbie family set. Thomas purchased two sets and reconfigured them so that the dolls resembled her own family. She explained that there was a black mom doll, a white dad doll, and a child in each color. Beautiful! Here's hoping she and her father can resolve their differences soon. Meghan has dedicated her life to motivating others, and she is now in a position to do it for millions of young people all over the world!
