Wedding day happiness?
The big day had finally arrived on July 29, 1981. Diana Spencer was crowned Princess of Wales – and Charles' wife – in front of 3,500 guests and 750 million people worldwide. The 600,000 or so people who gathered outside St. Paul's Cathedral wanting to see this fairytale couple were utterly unaware of the fractures that had already begun to develop in this supposedly flawless relationship. Diana continued coldly, “He was going to look after me.” “Was I mistaken about that assumption?”
Camilla is impossible to avoid
Even their wedding ceremony was apparently not without heartbreak. Camilla was invited to the wedding for whatever reason – feel free to speculate. Diana, already suspicious of her soon-to-be husband's friendship with the married lady, not only knew Camilla was present but actively sought her out. Even years later, she distinctly remembered Camilla sitting there ashen grey as she walked down the aisle. Perhaps seeing her opponent caused Diana to mix up Charles's names, referring to him as Philip Charles Arthur George rather than Charles Philip…
