The Inmates Who Planned the 1962 Breakout from Alcatraz.

Signaling the Alarm

After a long journey, Frank Morris and the Anglin brothers finally reached land. It's impossible to know for sure, but detectives have a good idea that it was somewhere about 11:30. The three inmates inflated the raft and sailed off into San Francisco Bay. What transpired after that is a mystery. Guards didn't learn that three inmates had escaped until dawn. The alarm sirens blared to call everyone to attention and put the facility on high alert.
