The Start of the Investigation
There had been no reports of stolen vehicles on Angel Island in the previous twelve days, so when the police went there to look into it, they found none. Frank Morris and the Anglin brothers had hoped for that to happen, but it didn't appear to be the case. Did they arrive at Angel Island at all? Did they arrive someplace else, instead? It's possible they perished in the water. Authorities wanted to look into all of the possibilities, so they opened an official investigation, even though it was difficult to do so.
