A deathbed confession added to the other tantalising pieces of evidence, such as Christmas cards and family photos. From 1963 to 1987, Robert Anglin, one of the 13 Anglin siblings, said he kept in touch regularly with John and Clarence. Robert was no longer in touch after 1987. The Anglins found themselves in an unusual contact situation. The family didn't want to make the police's job easier by reconnecting with or searching for their brothers in Brazil while the Alcatraz prison escape investigation was still open.
