The Conclusions of the Letter Probe
The findings were, to put it mildly, underwhelming after all that effort. The letter was released by KPIX, a San Francisco television station, and the viewers were told with excitement that “the FBI's results were inconclusive” A security expert for KPIX tried to clarify the situation by saying, “it implies yes, and it means no, so this puts everything in uncertainty.” However, this “limbo” tended to be discredited; the authorities widely held the view that the three men had perished in 1962.
