It is said, Beauty is a pain, but throughout history, women have gone through extreme levels in ways to meet beauty standards. In ancient China, a common practice was foot binding. It is one of the most outlandish beauty practices to date. It starts at the age of four. Because of foot binding, toes were broken, pressed down against the sole, and made with silk wrappings. With time, the bones would break, folding the foot nearly in half.
“200-Year-Old Chinese Giant Salamander”
The Chinese Giant Salamander is the largest known amphibian. We have seen salamanders before, but not the Giant Chinese ones. This particular one was found swimming in a subterranean cave outside Chongquing, China. It weighed 115-pounds and was 4 ½ feet long. Scientists believe that the rare animal is over 200 years old.
