In South America, Butter is a hot commodity. Farmer Jack Conway hit the jackpot while working on Emlagh bog in Co-Meath, Ireland, and found a 2,000-year-old bog butter. The bog butter was discovered 16 feet below the surface, and researchers are not sure why it was left there. The primary theory is that it was used as an offering to the gods as it is seen as a sign of wealth. The surprising fact is that it is still edible.
“The Mystery of the Mummified Sea Captain”
Fishers often find sunken boats, but not every day one finds a person inside them. When the fishers on the coast of the Philippines saw a partially sunk yacht, they were surprised by what was lurking inside. Remains of the ship's captain were fully mummified; he had been missing since 2009. After looking at the corpse, it was determined that he had been dead for seven years, whereas he had only been dead for seven days. The mixture of heat, dry wind, and salty sea air mummified his body.
