The Pain of Her Parents and Their Support
Little Lindsey anticipated a dramatic upheaval in her life. However, Lindsey's parents decided to have faith in her ability to overcome her cancer despite the painful emotions of guilt, anger, despair, and fear. Nobody in the family ever explained to Lindsey that her illness was terminal. Her parents led her to believe that, unlike other children at the time, she had the advantage of spending the majority of her time with kind doctors and nurses. Although it was a pitiful excuse, it was all they had at the time.
