While on an ideal vacation, a family discovers that the resort is in a state of decay.

It's “buyer beware,” as the saying goes.

It's clear from perusing the reviews on Tripadvisor that the Brisas del Caribe resort was, at best, a mixed bag. The Evans family's lack of preparation for their trip to Cuba raises questions about their level of diligence.
Before booking a trip, it's important to do some research and read the fine print. The phrase “buyer beware” has been around for a long time. Caveat emptor, which translates to “Let the buyer beware,” has been around since the 1500s.

Revolutionary Changes

Tripadvisor itself is innovative because it did not exist until the last two decades, when the Evanses first started using it. Today, it's not enough to just look at the website or read the brochure. Digital word of mouth is just as important as traditional word of mouth. Not many people today plan a vacation, or even choose a location, without first doing some research online. If used correctly, it may be a very powerful instrument. The Evanses might have avoided a lot of trouble had they spent a little more time on Tripadvisor.
