While on an ideal vacation, a family discovers that the resort is in a state of decay.

Family getaway

Gayle Evans wanted nothing more than to spend time with her family for her 50th birthday. So organising a family vacation seemed like the ideal method for her to spend time with her kids. Gayle spent hours looking into different locations before deciding on the four-star Brisas del Caribe resort in the tropical Varadero, Cuba, a popular tourist destination noted for its opulent all-inclusive hotels and immaculate beaches. The family was eager to unwind by the sea and finally take a break from their hectic work and school schedules.

The journey of a lifetime

We spent weeks daydreaming about it, Gayle recalled. “We thought it was going to be fantastic,” she added. “We spent weeks relaxing on the magnificent beach and paddling in the water, splashing in the pools, drinking cocktails in the piano bar.” A journey like this was undoubtedly going to be expensive, and the Evans family ultimately had to pay more than $13,000. The Evans family understood the value of this once-in-a-lifetime vacation, though. It's safe to say that the trip was memorable in the end, though perhaps not for the best reasons.
